It is Sydhavnens Motorv\u00e6rksted from R\u00f8nne that is opening a branch in Nex\u00f8 in order to carry out ship repairs on land.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_row_1 et_pb_row et_block_row preset--module--divi-row--default\"><div class=\"et_pb_column_1 et_pb_column et_pb_column_1_2 et_block_column et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode_passthrough preset--module--divi-column--default\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_2 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_block_module\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p>\u201dWe would like to be able to haul smaller ships ashore and carry out ship repairs on them, and an offer from Nex\u00f8 Harbour has now given us the opportunity to do so. Ship repair is a core task in our daily operation, but we have had to turn customers away because we had not set ourselves up for that possibility. Now we can guide the ship to Nex\u00f8 in advance if the need is there, and that is an advantage,\u201d says Claus Andersen, owner of Sydhavnens Motorv\u00e6rksted. \u201dAnd if, for example, we need overnight accommodation in connection with the work, there are also good opportunities in Nex\u00f8.\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Carsten Andersen, Port Director for Nex\u00f8 Port, says that they are very pleased that Sydhavnens Motorv\u00e6rksted is also establishing a base in Nex\u00f8. We have capacity in the form of suitable buildings and a port hoist that is not being used enough today, and we expect that the new partnership can be a solution to that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dIn 2014, we were co-initiators of Offshore Center Bornholm (<a href=\"https:\/\/ocbornholm.com\/\">OCB<\/a>), and through this we have seen an increasing opportunity to also service more of the smaller vessels used, for example, for crew changes or vessels involved in seabed surveys. It is the water depth in Nex\u00f8 Harbour that influences the sizes of vessels we can bring ashore there,\u201d explains Claus Andersen.<\/p>\n<p>Within offshore activities, people talk about two types of crew vessels: the so-called CTVs and SOV vessels. CTVs, which is short for crew transfer vessel, are the smallest boats, which typically sail crew out to the turbines and back home on a daily basis. They are therefore also built in such a way that they are suitable for berthing at the turbines, so that the turbine can be accessed as safely as possible. SOV stands for Service Operation Vessel, is significantly larger and stays stationed out at the offshore wind farm as far as possible, where it functions both as a base and office for the technicians and can have a warehouse and workshop on board. An SOV is equipped with a gangway that is \u201dclicked\u201d onto the turbine, so that there is a safe \u201dpath\u201d from ship to turbine that the technicians can use. In addition to the personnel working with the turbines, the ship has its own crew, informs Lone Reppien Thomsen, from OCB.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_column_2 et_pb_column et_pb_column_1_2 et-last-child et_block_column et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode_passthrough preset--module--divi-column--default\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_3 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_block_module\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p>\u201dIn future, it must also be expected that there will be a number of changes and requirements for marine engines, including smaller ones, as a result of the green transition in the maritime sector. We already have close cooperation with major marine engine and technology developers, and here they are well ahead when it comes to the development of engines for very large ships, which in future will run on fuels from renewable energy, Claus Andersen says, and continues:<\/p>\n<p>\u201dRight here and now, however, we are setting up our new facilities in Nex\u00f8. Initially, there will not be permanent staff in Nex\u00f8, but there will be a telephone number so people can reach us.\u201d Generally, Sydhavnens Motorv\u00e6rksted is preparing for the future; this is happening through local collaboration, but also in Germany and Poland, where a new partnership has been established with TASK Engineering GmbH. Together, we have founded TASK Engineering ApS, which is located on our premises at R\u00f8nne Harbour.
