The meeting aims to inspire and provide advice and tools to help companies adapt so that more seniors want to remain an active part of the workforce and thereby help alleviate the growing labour shortage on the island.<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Labour shortage demands new solutions<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Bornholm, just like in the rest of Denmark, there is a growing labour shortage. Seniors could be a crucial part of the solution, but that requires businesses to get better at adapting working conditions to the needs of older employees. Business consultant J\u00f8rn Pedersen from Business Center Bornholm explains: \"In a time of labour shortage, leaders should be proactive in this area. It is not only an advantage \u2013 it has also become a necessity. We are facing small birth cohorts, and it is high time to find new ways to secure a stable workforce.\"<\/em><\/p>\n

For many seniors, flexible working arrangements can be crucial to whether they choose to stay in the labour market. \"Many older people are still willing to work, but this requires us to adapt their tasks and possibly offer fewer working hours or new areas of responsibility that better suit their life situation,\"<\/em> adds Pedersen.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Head of Commercial Christa Lodahl from BCB emphasises the importance of flexibility when it comes to senior employees: \"We have a wealth of 'gold' among our seniors. If we succeed in retaining them, we have the opportunity to cover a major need in the workforce. However, this requires us to work strategically with it and offer models where tasks can be adjusted to better suit the employee's needs.<\/em>\"<\/p>\n

She continues: \"Not all businesses have an HR department to take care of senior policies, but even small businesses can have a chat about how tasks can be adapted so that seniors continue to be part of the business. It can be a simple solution that benefits both the employee and the business.<\/em>\"<\/p>\n
