Digitalisation is being made concrete

What does digital transformation mean for the individual business? What can you benefit from, and what will you simply not be able to do without? Business Center Bornholm will cover several aspects of digitalisation in a series of events and webinars throughout the autumn.

Digital transformation covers everything from the automation of manufacturing companies and accounting software to virtual reality and search engine optimisation. Over the course of six seminars, which very much in the spirit of the times will take place both physically and online, Business Center Bornholm will focus on digital transformation throughout September and October with external guest speakers, workshops and examples from local businesses that have been through a digital transformation themselves.

– We want to focus on digital opportunities through these events to inspire Bornholm-based businesses either to improve their digital skills or to initiate development, says Christa Lodahl, Head of Business at Business Center Bornholm.

The programme is based on specific requests from businesses and the experience Business Centre Bornholm's consultants have gained in their interactions with Bornholm-based companies.

– We screen the companies when we talk to them, thereby gaining knowledge of both their recognised and unrecognised challenges.

To reach as many Bornholm businesses as possible, the programme has deliberately been made broad, and it kicks off with an opening event that will attempt to cover all the topics that are set to shape the rest of the autumn. However, there will also be the opportunity to take a closer look at new gadgets that, for example, allow you to see what a vase by a local craftsperson would look like on your sideboard at home before buying it to take back from your holiday. There will be a chance to try things out, and Head of Business Christa Lodahl's hope is that this will inspire participants to see new opportunities for their business.

– I am excited about it, because for many people this isn't very tangible. But the people we've got to present it are fortunately good at bringing things down to earth.

Future-proofing

The subsequent seminar at Green Solution House has been created with inspiration from Svaneke Revision, which talks about the experiences it has had with streamlining the business digitally.

– There is huge potential in optimising administrative processes, which can benefit both oneself and one's customers.

Many companies already use programmes that can run more or less automatically, but far from all of them are exploiting their full potential, explains Christa Lodahl. However, automation is inevitably linked to the subject covered at the previous seminar on cybersecurity. Here, the speakers are going to use Business Centre Bornholm itself as an example of how good data security actually is, and the head of business development is naturally excited about the outcome.

For hacker attacks are unfortunately also part of the digital reality that businesses have to deal with. Because there is no way around the digital transition if you are to future-proof your business – but the businesses on Bornholm realised that long ago, says Christa Lodahl, who hopes to be able to inspire them to take the next step with the autumn series of events.
