Residential College Bornholm is a collaboration between Bornholm-based businesses, Danish universities and research environments with the aim of strengthening innovation, the green transition and skills development on Bornholm.
Through the initiative, students and researchers visit the island as part of their teaching, work placements, semester projects and dissertations, collaborating with local businesses on specific challenges and development opportunities. By the end of 2028, around 600 students from four universities are expected to participate in programmes on Bornholm.
For businesses, Residential College Bornholm offers a unique opportunity to access new knowledge, current research results and highly qualified students who can contribute fresh perspectives and solutions. At the same time, the collaboration gives companies the opportunity to build relationships with the specialists of the future and increase their visibility among potential employees, which can strengthen the recruitment of highly educated labour to Bornholm.
Residential College Bornholm thus helps to strengthen Bornholm's position as an attractive place for education, innovation and business development – particularly within green energy and future sustainable solutions.
The business promotion project Residential College Bornholm is funded by the Danish Board of Business Development and the European Union.

There are several ways to collaborate with Residential College Bornholm. We are happy to help clarify your needs and find the right match so that you get the most out of the collaboration.
Workshop
Participate in a workshop with students and gain insight into their work with concrete issues, idea generation and new solutions. At the same time, the company can share experiences and make contact with students and lecturers.
Company time spent: 2–3 hours
Short case or workshop programme
Gain new perspectives on a specific business challenge. The process typically takes place over a few weeks and can result in ideas, analyses or proposed solutions.
Time spent by the company: Under 10 hours
Bachelor's thesis, Master's thesis or individual study project
Have a larger or more complex issue examined in depth. The collaboration can result in analyses, prototypes, concepts or a stronger basis for decision-making, amongst other things.
Company's time commitment: Approx. 50 hours spread over 3–5 months
Work placement
Get a student attached to the company through an extended internship. The student works on specific tasks and contributes with new knowledge and new competencies. At the same time, the company gets the opportunity to get to know a potential future employee through introduction, ongoing mentoring and professional guidance.
Time spent by the company: Approx. 70 hours spread over 3–5 months
