Commercial Lighthouse II

Business Lighthouse II builds on Business Lighthouse I and focuses on implementing initiatives in accordance with the partnership agreement with the government. The Business Lighthouse is run by Baltic Energy Island and Business Center Bornholm is the financial partner. The project is funded by the European Union and the Danish Board of Business Development. Our role is, among other things, to ensure that Bornholm gets the maximum business potential from the development of the energy island, offshore wind and large-scale PtX for SMEs.

The Business Lighthouse II project primarily consists of three main parts:

Baltic Energy Island – Green qualifications
The purpose of "Baltic Energy Island - Green Skills" is to implement targeted educational and upskilling courses that increase companies' access to the qualified labour from vocational and higher education institutions that is necessary to realise the potential of developing Bornholm as an energy island.

Baltic Energy Island – Increased innovation capacity in SMEs
The purpose of the project is for Danish SMEs, through 5 innovation programmes, to participate in innovation-oriented activities and have concepts developed for new products and services that lead to investments and growth in relation to the multi-billion investments that takes place with Energy Island Bornholm and the further development of offshore wind in the Baltic Sea.

Baltic Energy Island – Strengthened SMEs
The purpose of the project is to strengthen SMEs through individual pathways focusing on the potentials within Business Beacon Bornholm and thereby support the SMEs' transition and development to realise these potentials. A focus is expected to be on companies wishing to become subcontractors to the offshore industry, either in connection with the shipment or servicing of offshore wind, etc.

Delegations

Baltic Energy Island is organising visits for 8 business-oriented delegations, such as companies, networks, clusters, etc., who will be introduced to business and investment opportunities in connection with the lighthouse initiatives. These activities are preparatory for building an ecosystem within the lighthouse's focus areas. Collaborative relationships have been established with State of Green and Copenhagen Capacity, which are expected to be involved in the initiative. The activity does not involve state aid.

Excursions

Two excursions are being organised with the aim of giving the participating companies increased insight into business opportunities, an expanded network and value chain collaborations.
