Business Lighthouse II, EU-supported project
Baltic Energy Island - Green Skills, strengthens both energy-related educational programmes on Bornholm and promotes innovation on Bornholm through strong collaboration between students and green energy companies.
Through both business-oriented collaboration with students and targeted educational and competence development programmes, we help you, among other things, focus on employees' skills development and the company's access to qualified knowledge and labour from vocational and higher education institutions.
Who can take part?
The project is open to both established Bornholm-based companies, particularly SMEs, and companies from the rest of Denmark that see potential in establishing themselves on Bornholm in connection with the development of the energy island, offshore wind projects and PtX technologies in the Baltic Sea region.

A. Business Competences for Energy Island Bornholm
A. 1. Uncover the company's competencies: Get your current competencies mapped and receive guidance on both skills development and funding opportunities. This is essential for companies on Bornholm to be able to bid for contracts in connection with the establishment of Energy Island Bornholm.
A.2. Full-service: As a company, you are offered a full-service concept that covers start-to-finish service in connection with the planning and execution of training and educational programmes, as well as systematic and strategic skills development.

B. Residential College Bornholm – cooperation with students
B.1. Expand the establishment of Residential College Bornholm: The local presence of students from DTU and other universities and educational institutions will bring new knowledge to your company, support your capacity for innovation and attract the qualified workforce of the future.
B.2. Collaboration between students and businesses: Get help with an issue or challenge that prepares you for the many tasks and opportunities that arise in connection with the development and establishment of Energy Island Bornholm. This can be within green transition, sustainability, and energy.
Collaboration opportunities:
1) Student projects: Collaboration through bachelor's or master's thesis projects, or as a corporate case study in course activities here on Bornholm, where students apply their academic knowledge to solve a real-life problem. This opportunity provides access to new perspectives and solutions to specific challenges within the company's field.
2) Internship: Offer an internship to a DTU student who will work intensively for 3-5 months on a specific challenge in your company. The intern brings new knowledge and works on a project basis, ensuring that both the company and the student gain real value from the collaboration.
3) Collaboration with DTU researchers: Get between 250 and 300 hours of tailored consultancy from DTU researchers on the development of a product or prototype.

Business Lighthouse Bornholm
Business Lighthouse Bornholm is part of a larger national strategy in Denmark that aims to create regional business development by establishing various lighthouses (or "lighthouse projects") in selected regions. These lighthouses focus on specific sectors or industries where the regions have particular strengths or potentials.
For Bornholm, the business lighthouse is focused on energy and particularly green energy, which includes the development of energy islands, offshore wind energy, sustainable energy solutions and associated industries. The aim of Business Lighthouse Bornholm is to attract investments, create new jobs, support local businesses and promote innovation within the green energy sector.
The initiative is to help Bornholm utilise its unique geographical and natural resources, which are ideal for renewable energy projects. By doing this, it is hoped that Bornholm will become a central player in Denmark's green transition, while at the same time creating economic growth and development in the region.
