We must dare to have high ambitions on Bornholm. Also
when the others shake their heads at us.
Because when we work together, we can achieve something here on the island, and the rest of Denmark and Europe are starting to realise that. There is a special Bornholm mentality, which is mentioned by several of those currently involved in the major offshore wind turbine shipment project from Rønne Harbour: On Bornholm, people don't just go home at 3 pm. They are available when a situation arises that requires it. And people know each other: They know who to call when they need help to solve
and problem.
That is the sort of thing that the large companies currently visiting Bornholm take notice of, and that is the sort of thing that is going to move us forward.
In this magazine, Bornholm's outgoing mayor Winni Grosbøll calls the ongoing shipping-out project a test run leading up to the energy island. Because that is the next big project awaiting us, and if possible, it requires even higher ambitions and even more cooperation from all of us. We are ready to do that across the regional municipality, business promotion actors, Campus Bornholm, trade unions and the Bornholm business community.
Even though we do not yet know for certain what the energy island project will demand of us. We haven't tried this type of task before, but we are all working on getting wiser about what is going to happen, what it will demand of us, and what Bornholm is going to get out of it.
As we have already seen with the ongoing project, this is not only something that benefits the port: businesses across Bornholm are experiencing the effects of the work. You can read about that in this magazine, where we focus on the offshore wind farms and the energy island project, which the government officially launched in its climate proposal earlier this year.
We will only experience more of those effects in the future. If we venture into it. If we dare to have high ambitions. And if we stand together to solve the tasks ahead. Happy reading!
