Baltic Energy Island and Business Center Bornholm
The energy solutions of the future are to be developed on Bornholm
This clarifies the ability of Bornholm-based companies to solve tasks related to the establishment and servicing of offshore sites, onshore facilities, and general logistics and development.
In the Baltic Sea, part of the future of sustainable energy is being shaped and built. Bornholm acts as a hub for innovative solutions and projects developed through collaboration between local businesses, leading universities, researchers and students.
The companies have made it clear that Bornholm can deliver
”Local businesses have long been able to handle both small and large tasks, individually, together with other local operators and in collaboration with some of the world's leading companies, and with the strong focus on Bornholm as an energy island, the businesses have put extra energy into further developing and increasing their competencies”, says Head of Business Christa Lodahl, adding ”Everything from contractors and engineering works to smithies, electrical contractors and logistics companies have seized the new opportunities that the energy island offers and made it clear that Bornholm can deliver. This is very positive for the island.”
In addition to the measures the companies themselves have implemented, many have used the opportunities available through the Bornholm business lighthouse and the National Centre for Green Energy project. Here, they have participated in innovation tracks on both drones and ROVs (remotely operated vehicles), surplus heat, biogas and digital mapping, just as there have been collaborations with educational institutions such as DTU, where students on placement have contributed knowledge. Workshops on the preparation of carbon accounts and certification courses, with up to several ISO certifications for the individual company, have also supported the need that companies experience as subcontractors.
The film is going to show everything we can do on Bornholm
The aim of the film, which is being launched on 16 August 2023, is to showcase a selection of all that Bornholm has to offer in relation to the construction tasks to be carried out on and around the island, as well as demonstrating how local businesses handle ongoing service tasks ranging from the maintenance of offshore sites to crew changes and daily logistics.
The film will be targeted at large companies that are project owners of existing and upcoming initiatives on and around Bornholm. It must highlight the opportunities for using local suppliers and subcontractors, thereby supporting development and growth on Bornholm in connection with the Energy Island.
Background to the film
The film has been developed as part of the EU Regional Development Fund project National Centre for Green Energy, by Business Center Bornholm. Baltic Energy Island is the sender of the film. Filmfolket has made the film.
