The budget must not be put in a drawer – it must be used

For many businesses, the budget is still something that is done out of a sense of duty. It has to be sent to the bank, the accountant or the board of directors. But what if the budget could instead become a concrete tool in everyday operations? Something that helps to control, plan and prioritise?
That question is the focus of a workshop for Bornholm-based businesses on 2 June in Rønne, hosted by Business Center Bornholm and Erhvervshus Hovedstaden. Entitled ”Budgets – from obligation to value”, the workshop is about how to use your budget more actively in the day-to-day running of the business.

From control to governance
According to Ebbe Mølsted-Møller, senior business consultant at Erhvervshus Hovedstaden, it is about changing the perception of the budget. It should not just be a report for others, but a working tool for yourself.
"A good budget isn't about hitting the figures precisely. It's about understanding your direction and your financial opportunities. When you use the budget actively, it becomes easier to make the right decisions – and gain peace of mind," he explains.
Many companies only budget once a year – often as a chore – and rarely use it actively in their day-to-day operations. That is a missed opportunity, he believes.

Control over liquidity and direction
At the workshop, participants will gain insight into how to build a usable budget. There is a particular focus on operating budgets, cash flow management and the balance between ambitions and finances. The day concludes with the opportunity for individual sparring, where participants can get input on their own budget challenges.
In addition to Ebbe Mølsted-Møller, Peter Bausager, with experience in growth and earnings, and Thomas Hagerup, with a background in finance and management from both Danish and international companies, are also participating.

The event takes place on 2 June at Green Solution House, Strandvejen 79, 3700 Rønne.
It is free to participate, but requires pre-registration.
